"Dear all

This is indeed very sad news. Leif was a giant of injury prevention. A co-founder of the series of world conferences, founder of the Safe Communities movement and a pillar of the WHO network of Heads of Collaborating Centers. He leaves a very big legacy. We will remember his many achievements, his strong personality, his humor and unwavering commitment to injury prevention.

On behalf of all colleagues in WHO, condolences to his family and all of us.
