Dr Aili Laasner has actively been involved in public health initiatives both on state and community level. Her main contribution has been to introduce the Safe Community concept in Estonia. She has submitted an application to WHO CC at Karolinska Institute to get Rapla county designated as the first Safe Community in Estonia and Baltics (in 2004), and redesignated in 2009. She has also contributed to the designation of the 2nd Estonian Safe Community (Lääne county) in 2010. Dr Laasner has presented Rapla county Safe Community program and results on several international conferences.
